Keeping the sailboat of the “Kli-Kli” size sound requires all hands on the deck. Tools, knowledge, and time – a lot of time! We have equipped the home workshop with all the essential tools and machines. We take care starting with the painting all together with extensive electrical works.

The brief history of the sailboat “Kli-Kli”

A single-hull steel ketch was commissioned in 1973 by the Kojadinović family. “Kli-Kli” was built by a small France shipyard. The plan was laid by Michael Joubert, who later became the famous French naval architect of Joubert – Nivelt studio. “Kli-Kli” was hull number two of their “Sigma 40” series. The boat was finished in 1974.

Kojadinović was one of three families from ex Yugoslavia who circumnavigated the globe in the late seventies and eighties of the twentieth century. The adventures of “Kli-Kli” were absorbed by lads and lasses at “home” through voyage tales in popular weekly and monthly publications and TV series. “Kli-Kli” became the icon of freedom and the nomad way of life in the popular culture and imagination of the young people of the time. The Kojadinović family owned the “Kli-Kli” until 2019.

Today, fourteen years after arriving in the Bay of Kotor, “Kli-Kli” has received a new life and mission. Our idea is to continue protecting the rich history of “Kli-Kli” by sailing day and multi-day trips and excursions.

“Kli-Kli” Refurbishment

From June 2019, with the foreseen completion of investments in May 2022, “Kli-Kli” will be renovated and adjusted to new standards. We aim to preserve the original appearance. The interior is prepared for comfortable accommodation of up to 6 guests sleeping in three cabins. Two heads (bathrooms). The galley (kitchen) will prepare gastronomic delicacies of the Mediterranean. So far, repairs have been made to the hull, engine, and sails. All fittings and installation (electrical, telecommunications, fluids, ventilation) have been rebuilt.

In media from 2019.

“Kli-Kli” as expedition boat

We have identified a need for a multi-day research platform for the NGO sector. Our intention is to provide a framework for a marine life research organization, such as mammal research, bird protection, migration research, monitoring, etc. Without further changes to the ship’s interior or exterior, we can provide service and working conditions for up to six researchers. We can store the amount of food, water, and required materials, tools, and equipment for conducting multi-day research expeditions.

“Kli-Kli” as educational boat

“Kli-Kli” has prepared two educational excursions tailor-made for the school children of age 11 to 15 on themes “Geography, history, and art in Boka in 16th to 18th century”, and “Geography and Ecology of the Bay of the Kotor”. The trips are based on the school program of Montenegrin primary schools and are customized to guest kids through the “Child-friendly” program.

Geography, history, and art in
Bay of Kotor from 16th to 18th century

This multidisciplinary program merges location with the historical events during the 16th to 18th centuries—life on the border between the Venice Republic and the Ottoman empire. Main historical events, influence the growth of culture and artistic expression of the area.

Learn the importance of the geographic location for trade and the influence of the Bay of Kotor on the state of Montenegro. This period was very fruitful for works of fine art, poets, sailors, and diplomats of the wider region of the Bay.

The excursion lasts for five hours (six lectures). Starting points are Herceg Novi, Kotor, or Tivat.

Geography and ecology of
the Bay of Kotor

This excursion intends to introduce students to the multidisciplinary approach to environmental protection.

We will summarize the importance and specificities of the local environment in ecosystems during this trip. We will speak about the primary concern on the impact of chemical pollution by polymer compounds (plastics), oil and oil derivatives on the environment. During the trip, we will spot the marine ecosystems and biodiversity.

The excursion lasts for five hours (six lectures). Starting points are the towns of the Bay of Kotor.
